Weft: cotton floss, cotton batik fabric strips, novelty knitting yarn.

I wanted to give an artist friend a classy birthday present to carry her supplies to and from her art classrooms. An article in Weavezine Fall 2008 tells how to weave the bag cover.

Warp: cotton floss and 30 weight polyester quilting thread
Weft: cotton floss, cotton batik fabric strips, novelty knitting yarn.

Quilt fabric with big prints is in. This Kaffe Fasset Cabbage & Rose fabric needed no yarn inlay motif for the printed fabric design to show off. The bag and bag cover are made from The Smart Handbag Pattern #601 by Eliza Jane Smart tells how to weave the bag cover.

The spiral is inlaid with strips of denim cut from overalls from my grandfather, my father and myself. Keystone was a manufacturer of overalls.

Multi-Layered Inlay Pillows
Joyce Harter developed this technique that combines her love of fabric and the Moorman technique. Commercial fabric is cut into strips and inlayed as a background pattern. Yarn is inlayed on top of this to create a design on top of the fabric strips.
