Mint Julip Vest

Yarns: silk, wool, rayon, cotton, tencel
Fabric: silk dupioni
Pattern: Elements 003 by Linda Kubik. Order
Being a gardner, greens of all kinds mean growth to me. The fabric inspiration started with some tencel yarn from Just Our Yarns that fit with my favorite silk wool yarns I often use in my handwoven cloth. When I completed sewing the garment, it needed some other colors for highlight. This machine needlefelted the flower scarf-lace, a piece in my fiber jewelry series, was the answer.

Brown is always in my style book. Not wanting to purchase any new yarn, I used a variety of brown yarns from my stash for the fabric. But it is the excellent fitting pattern that makes this unlined jacket so comfortable to wear. This is the most popular of Linda Kubik's patterns that I sell.

Six Panel Jackets

Joyce designed this unlined jacket pattern to use a combination of commercial and handwoven fabrics. Much of the handwoven fabric in the featured jackets is textured plain weave, a 4 shaft, 6 treadle structure. Note that some of the jackets below have the A panels cut from handwoven fabric and the B panels from commercial fabric, while others are reversed.

All of these jackets are from the pattern "Six Panel Jacket" available on this website.

Mondrian Vests
Artist: Joyce Harter

This loom shaped vest is a wonderful canvas for designs in the Theo Moorman technique. Joyce designed it to require a minimal amount of sewing.

The following vests are made from the pattern "Mondrian Vests", available on this website.

I combined Theo Moorman and a textured plainweave structure to create this 6 shaft hybrid weave. I recycled a design I used on a table runner several years ago. The painted edge trim on my Grandma’s Currier & Ives dishes inspired this design.
